Founded in 1982, the Food Bank of Iowa is a private, nonprofit charitable organization whose mission is to alleviate hunger through food distribution, partnership and education. The Food Bank of Iowa solicits, receives and inventories food and grocery products that are ultimately distributed to partner agencies in 42 Iowa counties.

The Food Bank of Iowa network includes food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, nonprofit daycare centers, shelters for victims of domestic violence, residential care centers, and child and senior programs.
